Do you want to straighten your smile but dread the idea of metal braces? Invisalign may be the perfect solution for you or your teen.
Many adults avoid orthodontic treatments because they don’t want metal brackets and wires for a year or more to get the smile they have always wanted. The good news is that you or your teen can have the straight teeth that you desire without the need for metal braces. Invisalign aligners are a discreet, comfortable option to finally have that beautiful, straight smile.
Invisalign uses clear, plastic aligners that are customized to fit over your teeth and gently move them into place. Since they are clear, they are almost invisible. Approximately every two0 weeks, you will receive a new set of aligners that will continue to adjust your teeth into place. You can still eat the foods you love and keep up with your oral hygiene. Invisalign aligners can be removed when you eat, then put back on after you brush and floss. They are comfortable and convenient, a perfect fit for adults needing orthodontic treatment.
Although braces are a common sight at most middle and high schools, many teens would prefer not to have metal on their teeth during their teen years. Now with Invisalign Teen, many young men and women can avoid the discomfort of braces. Like their adult predecessors, Invisalign Teen uses clear aligners to direct teeth into place without the need for metal wires and brackets. Teens love Invisalign because they can feel confident when they smile and still enjoy the benefits of getting a straight, healthy smile for the future.
Each case is unique, so your treatment time will depend on the state of your teeth at the beginning treatment. Typically, most cases take between 12 and 18 months, but during your consultation, we will discuss expectations for your case. Once your teeth have reached the desired position, you will need to wear a retainer to ensure your teeth don’t shift back.
During treatment, you will wear your Invisalign aligner for about 22 hours per day, typically only removing the aligners to eat, brush and floss. Each aligner is worn for about two weeks before switching to the next in the series.
