WHY DID YOU BECOME A DENTIST?

From a young age, my fascination with both art and science set me on a path toward a career in the medical field. As I matured and delved deeper, I discovered the unique synergy that dentistry offers, where creativity plays a pivotal role in crafting beautiful smiles and solving complex dental problems. Restoring smiles demands a keen artistic sensibility while grasping the intricacies of the oral cavity requires a strong foundation in science, complemented by unwavering diligence.

Additionally, my personal experiences with dental care profoundly influenced my journey. In my younger days, I only visited the dentist when experiencing discomfort, as the idea of comprehensive dentistry wasn’t emphasized. Regrettably, this lapse had a negative impact on my dental health, leading to numerous procedures to restore it. Since then, my commitment has centered on providing holistic dental care to my patients to educate them about the importance of maintaining their oral health and cherishing their beautiful smiles.

WHERE DID YOU STUDY DENTISTRY?

Upon earning my bachelor’s degree in biochemistry at Binghamton University, I began my journey into the dental profession. I first pursued an internship at The Center for Special Dentistry in NYC, which served as a pivotal moment in confirming my aspiration to become a dentist through exposure to specialized dental practices. My pursuit continued with earning my Doctor in Dental Medicine from Boston University.

During graduate school, I had the opportunity to incorporate digital dentistry into my practice. This innovative approach enabled me to perform a wide spectrum of dental procedures, with a particular focus on dental implant planning and placement. Additionally, I received training in advanced technologies such as Cone Beam Computed Tomography (CBCT), 3D imaging, Digital Smile Design, Sidexis, Digital Denture Software, and Clear Orthodontic Aligner Software.

Furthermore, I enriched my dental education with a three-month externship at the Family Health Centers in Southwest Florida. In this high-volume setting, I provided vital dental care to underserved and pediatric populations, deepening my understanding of diverse patient needs. I also participated in the Ryan White Program at the Yankee Dental Meeting in Boston. This program focused on providing dental care for patients with HIV, broadening my perspective on the intersection of oral and public health.

Thereafter, I completed the General Practice Residency program at NYU Langone, a fundamental step in my professional development. While there, I provided comprehensive care across various dental specialties, encompassing root canals, dental implant placement, dentures, fillings, crowns, pediatric dentistry, oral surgery, and emergency dental care. Moreover, I had the privilege of sharing my expertise by providing training to my co-residents on the effective use of CBCT.

In addition to fulfilling the requirements of my residency program, I actively pursued a series of continuing education courses at the New York Greater Dental Meeting, including “Hot Molars” and “Invisalign and Complex Treatment Planning.”

I have obtained certifications in various areas, including digital and traditional radiography, facial injectables and dermal fillers, Invisalign, LGBTQ+ Safe Zone training, CPR, AED, ACLS, BLS, and first aid.

Additionally, I have completed advanced training and I am a member of the following:

  • American Dental Association
  • New York State Dental Association
  • Nassau County Dental Society
  • Dawson Academy

My educational journey and commitment to advancing dentistry and patient care have equipped me with a comprehensive skill set and deep passion for this profession. I look forward to make a positive impact in the field of dentistry and the well-being of my patients.

OUTSIDE OF THE OFFICE, WHAT DO you LIKE TO DO?

Both of my parents immigrated to the US with as little as a suitcase. Starting from humble origins, they exemplified resilience and instilled the values of integrity, empathy, and a strong work ethic. Growing up in a close-knit Jewish family, I was nurtured on these foundational principles, which significantly influenced me and my sister to pursue doctorates and care for people - a source of immense pride for my parents.

In gratitude for the opportunities they’ve been afforded, they made it a family tradition to contribute to charitable organizations and dedicate time to volunteer work. This serves as their way of giving back to the community and honoring the values that have shaped their lives.

My family and I share a love for travel, laughter, and the creation of new memories. Overall, my family serves as an unwavering source of support, love, and invaluable life lessons. I am grateful for the close relationships we share and the values that they’ve instilled.

During my free time, I find joy in photography, whether it’s capturing the beauty of animals or the artistry of delectable dishes. Exploring the culinary world in particular excites me, as it allows me to appreciate the creativity and esthetics that go into preparing and presenting a dish. This passion for photography is deeply intertwined with my love for travel. I aspire to explore new cities, immerse myself in rich cultures, and enthusiastically share my experiences with friends and family. These hobbies extend beyond leisure; they also bring a sense of adventure and offer moments of personal growth, relaxation, and self-discovery, contributing to a healthy work-life rhythm.
